As our global society navigates the uncertainty that has surrounded the outbreak and rapid spread of COVID-19, NMB remains committed to supporting our customers. Our sales and engineering teams are here to provide support remotely as we respond to social distancing guidelines. We have fortunately been able to maintain our factory operations, and we remain confident we can help you to secure your supply chain.
One of the major concerns in the healthcare community is the dwindling supply of ventilators – many COVID-19 patients will rely on these life-saving devices. We applaud the manufacturers who are stepping in to ramp up production of respiratory equipment during this crisis. As an essential supplier of components for these devices – ball bearings, cooling fans and motors – NMB is prepared to meet this growing demand.
Recently, Medtronic shared the design specifications for their Puritan Bennett™ 560 ventilator product in order to enable non-medical manufacturers to evaluate options for rapidly increasing production of critical respiratory equipment. The PB 560 is a compact, lightweight and portable ventilator that can be used in both clinical settings and at home. This device provides acute care for patients that are unable to breathe effectively on their own – an essential piece of equipment for those with severe respiratory illness, such as COVID-19.
As part of their reference design, Medtronic specifies a 40X40X20mm cooling fan to provide airflow to critical electronics. Our engineers have evaluated the design which specifies a SUNON cooling fan and have recommended the following NMB cross reference: 04020VA-24N-AA-00.
Besides cooling solutions, MinebeaMitsumi offers additional electromechanical components that perform essential functions in respiratory equipment such as motors for pumps or turbines and sensors to regulate air pressure. NMB engineers have extensive knowledge and experience working with respiratory equipment manufacturers – contact us today to learn more.
