Driving Connected Car Mobility with 5G

In the future, connected cars will be able to operate completely autonomously supporting new applications within and around the vehicle. To be successful, vehicles will need to be equipped with advanced sensors and high performance communication modules. 5G technology is secure and reliable enabling real-time data transmission, in-vehicle streaming, rapid over-the-air (OTA) software updates and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication.

In order to operate autonomously, connected cars need to have precise positioning and geolocation capabilities which are made possible using GNSS/GPS antennas. Mitsumi can integrate 5G and GNSS/GPS technology into custom combination antennas to meet the connectivity needs of each OEM. Our local engineering support can help identify the optimal solution for each vehicle.

Local Testing in Michigan

We provide car connectivity testing services for our customers in the US to verify the performance of antenna and wireless modules. The shape and material of each vehicle can affect radiation patterns and create electromagnetic interference (EMI). Additionally, antennas are located in various locations both inside and outside the vehicle. By optimizing the position of each antenna, OEM manufacturers can reduce wiring which leads to cost savings.

Our test equipment is capable of far and near field measurement from 45MHz to 8.5GHz, and is also a certified SiriusXM test site. The equipment includes an NF gantry with Azimuth turntable and control building with anechoic chamber. We also offer testing services for a fee with full technical support.
