MinebeaMitsumi developed an electric gripper that is driven by a hybrid stepping motor, and is ideal for robotic applications. The design adopts a unique, patent pending spiral cam drive mechanism, and is highly reliable due to its simple structure. It is also possible to mount the gripper to multiple sides of a robotic arm due to it’s small size and lightweight.

Patent-Pending Spiral Cam Drive Mechanism

The unique spiral cam drive enables a ultra-compact form factor and energy efficient design. By integrating a hybrid stepping motor you can achieve high precision grip force control, speed control and positioning control. The gripper is able to pick up objects with irregular shapes and of various sizes with high accuracy using a high resolution encoder.

Customers can combine electric gripper with the ST-Box for advanced detection, programming and control functions. This closed loop stepping servo system can interface with PLC and robots through IO and RS485 communication. It is also possible to set parameters and program the gripper for 16 different situational settings. Significant energy savings can be realized – more than 30% over compressed air grippers.
